Veldeman develops air-cushion roof for Madonna’s MDNA Tour 2012

In collaboration with our Dutch partner Buitink Technology, we manufactured the roof system for the four concert stages for Madonna’s MDNA Tour in 2012. The client was Stageco Belgium NV, which enjoys a cast-iron reputation in stage construction.

Four roofs were supplied for the 4 concert stages, with a total surface of 4,400m². A concert stage roof has a surface area of approximately 1,100m² and is made up of 11 cushions, of which 5 cushions have a dimension of as much as 7m x 25m. The cushions are inflated to the required pressure with a blower system that is connected to the cushions with quick-action couplings.

The entire project, from design to delivery was completed in just 3 months, thanks to the close cooperation between all the parties concerned.

Padel is a racket sport originating in South America that unites the games of tennis and squash. It is a batting game played in singles or doubles on a rectangular court surrounded by U-shaped glass panes or concrete walls. The ball stays in play after hitting the walls thus enabling longer rallies and greater playing pleasure. The sport is very popular in Spain and South America, where it is the second most practised sport after football. Padel is also gaining in popularity outside these countries.

Padel 4U2 is the first fully-fledged Padel club in the Benelux. The sport complex, with 2 single and 4 double courts, was opened in the summer of 2012.

Veldeman builds indoor football hall for top Belgian team

KRC Genk football team plays in Belgium’s first division. The team have been national champions three times, won the Belgian cup three times and they will participate in the Europa League in the 2012-2013 season. This year they even played in the Champions League with a creditable draw against the final winner.

It is only normal that such a top class team should be able to train in all weather conditions. Up until now bad weather meant the team always had to head for an arena, where they were reduced to playing on sand in somewhat uncomfortable conditions. This is why KRC Genk went on the lookout for an alternative. Their search led them to Veldeman Structure Solutions.
